How often does a dock system need to be inspected?
Once a year is enough for most docks, and the easiest time is when it comes out in the fall. That is when you can actually see the legs, the anchoring and the underside of the frame.
Can aluminum docks still require repairs?
Yes. Aluminum is lower maintenance than wood, not maintenance free. What we see most is corrosion where two different metals meet at the fasteners, connections that have worked loose, frames bent by ice or a boat, and worn bunks and rollers. Caught early, those are small jobs.
What kinds of dock damage can actually be fixed?
Framing, hardware, anchoring, decking and the connections between sections. Most of what ice and weather do to a dock is repairable. If a piece is past fixing we will tell you that instead of patching it.
Why does staying on top of dock maintenance matter so much?
Because the small stuff gets expensive. A loose connection works on itself all season and turns into a bent frame. Catching it in the fall costs a fraction of replacing a section in the spring.
